AUSTIN—A Thorndale man was electrocuted on July 21—one day short of what would have been his 21st birthday—was one of 16 persons honored in a ceremony at the state capitol on Monday.
Jacob Biar was honored on Texas Agriculture Memorial Day which commemorates sacrifices made by farmers and ranchers. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Dept of Agriculture hosted the ceremony in the Capitol Extension Auditorium.
The 2018 ceremony honored six persons who lost their lives in agriculture-related accidents—including Biar—two who were severely injured and eight who “dedicated their lives to agriculture and have passed away.”
Miller accepted a wreath on behalf of the families.
