Body
History is a little more visible after some work by Juaquin Smith (above) and Pat Zapata. They raised monuments at the city library to make them more easily seen. The monuments depict firefighters J. W. Hooper and Wilbur Williams, who died fighting the 1935 Scarbrough & Hicks fire, the site of that historic business and the location of a 50-year time capsule to be opened in 2024.
