Two more persons filed during the past week for the March 3, 2020, Milam County Republican Primary.

Both filed for constable positions. Incumbent Precinct 2 Constable West signed up for another term and James Pratt filed for the Precinct 1 position now held by John Anderle.

All four constable offices will be filled in the 2020 general election.

CONTESTS—There are already four contests assured in the Republican Primary next year.

The sheriff’s race is contested with incumbent Chris White challenged by Craig Wise.

Prosecutor Bill Torrey is challenged by Lonnie Gosch.

Precinct 1 Commissioner Richard “Opey” Watkins drew challengers in Ricky McCall and Henry Hubnik.

Frank Summers and Charles Truitt filed for the Precinct 3 Commissioner position. Incumbent John Fisher is not seeking re-election.

INCUMBENTS—The following incumbents have also filed in the Republican Primary:

• 20th District Judge—John Youngblood.

• Sherry Mueck—tax assessor-collector.

• Jay Beathard—constable, Precinct 3.

• Michael Moehling—constable, Precinct 4 (currently serving as a Democrat).

Whitmire said he expects other filings.

Final day to file is Monday, Dec. 9.
