The Rockdale City Council has scheduled a second round of interviews as it searches for a replacement for long-time Police Chief Thomas Harris, who is retiring at the end of this month (see story above).
Council members, in a rare Saturday session, interviewed three finalists after narrowing down the field of candidates to replace Harris.
It was originally thought a new chief might be hired early this week but Interim City Manager Barbara Holly told The Reporter Tuesday afternoon that the council will meet Friday to con duct two additional interviews.
The Rockdale Police Chief will preside over a police force of 13 sworn officers and six civilians.
AGENDA—Friday’s city council session will begin at 8:30 p.m. and will consist only of an executive (closed) session. There will be limited public access to the location in observance of social distancing due to the COVID-19 situation.
Following the executive session the agenda states the possibility of “reconvene into open session and, as deemed appropriate at the council’s discretion, regarding appointment, employment and duties of the police chief.”
