POLICE REPORT
A Rockdale motel which was given 30 days to meet electrical code inspections or face a possible shutdown is due to receive another inspection this week.
Budget Inn, 716 West Cameron (US 79) received a visit from the State Fire Marshal’s office on June 5.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said numerous violations were found.
“The 30 days is up and sometime this week we are anticipating another inspection,” Goodrich said.
Goodrich said violations included lack of fire extinguishers and electrical code problems.
JUVENILES—Goodrich said two juveniles turned themselves in last Wednesday, in connection with an earlier break-in at Midway Grocery.
Goodrich said a rock was used to shatter a door at the convenience store and $50 in cash, along with cigarettes and cigars were taken.
ARRESTS—A 17-year-old Rockdale resident was arrested July 11 in connection with an incident in which a credit card was used without permission.
Manuel Patrick Wallace remains in the Milam County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bond.
Other arrests during the past week included:
• Amber Rose Trejo, 25, Rockdale, possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams), released on $5,000 bond.
• Daniel Anthony Page, 34, Milano, parole violation, in custody, no bond.
OFFENSES—Police investigated two reports of criminal mischief during the week.
Goodrich said one involved tires flattened and a car keyed and the other some substantial damage to equipment at a Rockdale laundromat.
He said about $700 was reported missing after a purse was taken at a downtown Rockdale location.
Other offenses reported included theft, forgery and curfew violation.
ACCIDENT—One traffic accident was reported inside the Rockdale city limits during the week.
Police said vehicles operated by Navtaj Dhaliwal and Keymani Hamilton, both of Rockdale, were in collision at 6:47 p.m. July 11 in front of USA Foods.
Minor damages were reported.
CITATIONS—Police issued 56 speeding violations during the past week.
Other citations issued included eight for expired registration, four for failure to maintain financial responsibility, two each for driving while license invalid and failure to report change of address/name.
Two curfew violation citations were issued.
SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 198 calls for service during the past seven days and 60 calls were received through the 911 emergency system.
