CELEBRATION CANCELED—There will not be a celebration of the “stars and stripes” this year in our town. The Milano City Council decided to cancel the annual July 4th parade and community meal for this year at their meeting on Monday night.

The event was the only one of its kind in the area.

The cancellation is due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

J ONES FUN RUN CANCELED—Another area annual event that has been canceled is the Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship Fun Run that usually happens in September.

Organizers are still looking to raise money with some type of fundraiser at a later date for next year’s scholarship.
