Sales tax receipts for the third month of 2018 showed some much needed good news for the City of Rockdale and Milam County.

Both were up slightly for the month, reversing a recent trend. Both entities remain down for the year.

Monthly sales tax collections for Rockdale, Cameron, Buckholts and Thorndale were up, while Milano was down.

Milam County’s $230,089 collected so far this year represents a 5.54 percent decrease over 2017 collections of $243,577 over the same period.

For the month, the county total was $69,886, up 2.61 percent over the March, 2017 total, $68,105.

The City of Rockdale’s March total was $54,787. That’s up 3.58 percent from the March, 2017 check, $52,888.

For the year, Rock-dale is down 2.04 percent, from $196,030 to $192,011.

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) was up for the month and also for the year. The MDD total for March was $28,336. That’s up 17.39 percent from $24,162 in March, 2017.

For the year, the Rock-dale MDD is up 38.03 percent, from $80,808 to $111,544.

The City of Cameron received a check for $58,942, up 5.42 percent from the $55,906 reported for March, 2017.

For the year, Cameron receipts are up 0.7 percent, from $203,647 to $205,080.

Milano’s March check of $5,620 was down 12.60 percent from the March, 2017, total of $6,430. For the year, Milano is down 2.54 percent, from $19,781 to $19,278.

Thorndale’s March check was $11,826. That’s up 22.73 percent from $9,635 in March, 2017.

Buckholts registered a 1.46-percent increase for the month. Its March, 2017, check was $1,331, up from the March, 2017, figure of $1,311.
