CAMERON—Indictments for murder and possession of child pornography were among 38, involving 33 persons, handed down by a Milam County Grand Jury Thursday.

MURDER—David Rodriguez Jr., 24, was indicted in connection with the stabbing death of 25-year-old Michael McDowell Sept. 5 at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of West Cameron Avenue in Rockdale.

Rockdale police said McDowell died of a stab wound in the neck.

Police said the two men got into an argument after a night of drinking.

“The argument escalated into a physical fight,” Lt. Stephen Goodrich said. It’s alleged Rodriguez pulled a knife from his pocket.

Police said the suspect fled the scene and was captured the next morning walking on County road 335 east of Rockdale.

CHILD PORN—A combined effort of the Milam County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Attorney General’s Child Exploitation Unit resulted in the Sept. 12 arrest of Clifford Lee Stanberry at his home in the 1900 block of North-wood Circle.

Sheriff Chris White said he was notified by the AG’s office it had identified a suspect through electronic data as “having viewed or downloaded pornographic images and video depicting children.”

Stanberry’s home was raided by deputies and former Rockdale Police Lt. J. D. Newlin, now a member of the AG’s Child Exploitation Unit, who was listed as the arresting officer.

It was the second child pornography possession case for the AG in the Rockdale area in 10 months.
