CAMERON—A Cameron man, arrested in connection with the Sept. 27, 2017, shotgun slaying of another Cameron resident, has been indicted for murder.
Alvin Melton, 35, was one of 34 persons indicted on 45 counts Thursday in the February grand jury session.
Cameron police said Courtney Latrell Williams, 32, died of a shotgun wound to the head.
John Leorn Melton Jr., 46, also of Cameron, was indicted for aggravated assault with deadly weapon in connection with the incident.
Police said they believed the two brothers were arguing and the shotgun discharged, striking Williams and killing him instantly. TAX OFFICE—Also, two former employees of the Milam County Tax Office were indicted in connection with allegations involving altering documents.
Lydia Cervantez, 55, of Cameron was charged with two counts of false name/ information, forgery of vehicle registration. Her daughter, Laura Renee Cervantez, 26, also of Cameron was indicted on one count of the same offense.
Prosecutor Bill Torrey listed other indictments as follows:

• Earl Lydell Myers, 36, Milano, possession of controlled substance (less than one gram).
• Albarado Abel Aguilar, 45, Cameron, injury to a child.
• Derrick Anthony Jacobs, 23, Beaumont, indecency with child by contact.
• John Paul Murphy, 45, Milano, continuous sexual abuse of child (less than 14).
• Caleb Magallon, 19, Thorndale, burglary of habitation, two counts.
• Rigoberto Trujillo Molina Jr., 26, Cameron, burglary of building, two counts of theft.
• Antonio Pope, 56, Rock-dale, aggravated assault with deadly weapon-family violence

Torrey said one no-bill (refused to indict) was returned. That name was not released.
