Glenn R. Redmond of the greater Wichita, Kansas, area has been named pulpit minister at Murray Street Church of Christ. He succeeds Jason Hollinger, who resigned last fall to accept a similar position at Central Church of Christ in Lufkin.
A native of the tri-city area of Alabama, Redmond comes to Rockdale from a pulpit preaching assignment at Belle Plaine, KS. He has over 30 years preaching experience at congregations in Texas, Arizona, Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Georgia and Florida and mission work in the West Indies, Myanmar and Central America.
Redmond earned his bachelor’s degree from Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri, and a masters of counseling from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
He is a professional counselor, pursing that career before entering the ministry full time. He also has done extensive writing, public speaking, radio/TV and has training in criminal justice. He plans to resume some counseling activity in Rockdale.
Redmond served eight years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, including combat duty where he earned a Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was a member of the distinguished White House Honor Guard during President Lyndon Johnson’s administration.
Redmond and his wife of 55 years, Ruth, have one adult son who lives in the Dallas area. The Redmonds have already moved to Rockdale and reside in the Murray Street Church of Christ parsonage at 305 Calhoun.
