New bridge open

The Texas Department of Transportation has finished work on the new bridge at FM 908 crossing over Brushy Creek northwest of Rockdale. The department has been working on the bridge site since last winter. The work involved tearing down the old bridge and clearing the site. The bridge’s substructure was set in April and later that month poured the deck and that paved the way for the June opening of the bridge. Reporter photos: Shannon Whorton, David Money
