A 40-year-old Rock-dale man originally arrested for DWI-third offense on March 26 after $830,000 in cash was found in his vehicle, was re-arrested last week on a new charge.

Rock Eanes was arrested Thursday and charged with gambling promotion.

He posted $2,500 bond and was released the same day.

CASE—The Milam County Sheriff’s Department seized the cash, along with two weapons and what they termed “gambling equipment”—cards, dice and ledgers—after being called to a report of man “passed out behind the wheel” on FM 1712.

Having large sums of cash is not against the law. White said while the department could seize the cash immediately, it had 30 days to make a case.

Sheriff David Greene told The Reporter it is believed the money came from “gambling activity.”

He said the investigation into the situation is continuing.
