There are three new Girl Scout of Milam County troops in Rockdale, Milano and Gause for girls to join.
Rachel Owens, Milam County Service Unit director, said girls will be able to “help make a positive impact locally and globally while having fun with new friends.” They will explore the outdoors and earn science, technology, engineering, and mathematics badges.
Scouts plan to enter Christmas parades in Rock-dale, Cameron, Milano, and Gause.
DONATION—Milano Girl Scouts Troop 34006 has received a sponsorship donation from CEFCO to help their new troop purchase supplies for activities and badges.
The Milano troop has already planned two shared sister troop activities.
One is made possible by Texas A&M’s SPARK outreach program, where scouts will have the opportunity to learn about robotics engineering.
At another Milano troop meeting, scouts will view a portable planetarium and dome borrowed from the Lunar & Planetary Institute for the girls to explore the constellations.
Also, a Texas A&M physics and Astronomy student volunteer will be at that event to help the girls study the moon with a telescope and answer any questions
Girls will also be able to participate in a do-it-yourself sundial activity.
Girls can join the Girl Scouts anytime throughout the year.
HELP—The Girl Scouts are still looking for a new Girl Scout House/Hut in Milam County for all troops to use to store supplies and provide a safe place for the girls and their troop leaders to meet.
