Mayor Ward Roddam administered the oath of office to new Rockdale City Manager Tim Kelty at Monday night’s city council meeting. Kelty comes to Rockdale most recently from Freeport but has also been city manager in two other Texas Cities, Red Oak and Anderson.
Barbara Holly, who is retiring, will stay on through Sept. 30 to aid in the transition.
Cou nc i lma n Dav id Melton gave a presentation on the possibility of turning the skate park into a pickleball court, much like Cameron’s court, with no funds needed from the city. Public Works Director Jerald Brunson will put together a cost analysis and plans to present to the council.
The council also approved the comprehensive master plan to take Rockdale through the coming growth through 2050 to act as a guide. The plan was prepared by the firm Freese and Nichols who were hired by both the city and the Rockdale Municipal Development District.
