The 1974 Rockdale Centennial time capsule is set to be exhumed on July 6 at 10 a.m. at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library and the contents will be displayed at the Patterson Civic Center. A new time capsule, shown above with Dr. John Mike Weed III, chairman of the time capsule committee, will be buried on July 14 at Veterans Park at 7:30 p.m. People interested in putting materials into the new capsule will be able to do so for a $20 donation which includes items in unsealed manila envelopes no larger than 9”x12” and have name and contact information printed on the envelope. Bring to city hall no later than June 15. For no charge, email pictures, documents or videos in pdf form not to exceed 300 megabytes to rockdaletimecapsule@ yahoo.com. All documents will be reviewed prior to placement in the time capsule. Other time capsule committee members are Gay Johnson, Lauren Mathern, John Dean and Georgia Marshall.
