Testing in Milam County has revealed different strains of the virus that causes COVID-19.
“We have three cases of the – B.1.1.7, which is the U.K. variant. We also have three cases of the B.1.1.2 (wild variant) and one case of the B.1.1.519 Mexico variant. All of these have been confirmed in Milam County by those who tested positive for the virus. All the more reason to get vaccinated,” County Judge Steve Young reported in his daily email.
“We now have 30.2% of Milam County fully vaccinated. Including those who have been infected and therefore have immunity, our overall countywide immunity is 39.7%. We have 7,321 individuals who have received at least one shot and 5,954 have received both shots. But, we need everyone to get vaccinated,” he said.
