Lexington council lets the chief of police go
The city of Lexington fired its chief of police after an executive session during a special meeting April 14.
Cindy Herklotz moved that “the City Council of the city of Lexington, being an at-will employer and finding that new leadership for the police department is necessary, hereby terminates the employment of Police Chief, Christopher Landrum, effective immediately.”
Kandis Buchanan seconded. All five of the council members voted to relieve Landrum of his duties with the force.
A decision has not been made about hiring a new chief as of Tuesday afternoon.
