After an executive session commissioners okayed Torrey’s defense by the Allison, Bass & Magee law firm of Austin.

Torrey was one of 10 persons sued by former inmate John L. Roberson over a 2016 incident in the Milam County Jail that the plaintiff claims left him permanently disabled.

The suit also names Milam County, as an entity, as a defendant.

Other defendants include the sheriff, chief deputy, jail officials past and present and a doctor who was identified as the physician to inmates.
