TISD getting new bus facility from insurance

THORNDALE—School trustees in Thorndale, meeting last week, okayed construction of a new bus facility, during insurance funds.

Board members voted 6-0 to approve a resolution to set a prevailing wage rate and delegate authority to Supt. Adam Ivy in all matters related to the new construction.

Cost is estimated at $226,000, plus other costs for gravel parking, fencing, demolition, loss recovery and more.

It was noted that all costs will be covered by insurance funds available due to windstorm damage last year.

A construction contract was approved with Basic IDIQ, general contractor, through an interlocal purchasing cooperative.

CONTRACTS—Trustees granted Ivy the authority to approve professional contracts during the months of May through August.

David Hall, board president, noted the TISD takes this action every year.

“This is to ensure the district does not lost quality candidates during those months while waiting for board meeting to approve teacher contracts,” Hall said.
