School district buys four used buses

The Rockdale Board of Trustees approved the purchase of four 2018 International Carpenter buses from Franklin ISD for the purchase price of $254,758 with a five-year loan from Citizens National Bank.

The buses all have low mileage and are reported to be in excellent condition.

RISD honors Perry for service on board

Lin Perry was recognized for his nine years of service as a Rockdale ISD School Board member.

Perry was first elected in 2011 and has also served as the board vice-president.

During his tenure, Perry has always been an advocate for students.

Lin chose not to seek a fourth term on the board, but is unopposed for a seat on the Rockdale City Council.

Rockdale ISD board honors staffer at meeting

Rockdale ISD recognized its Human Resources Specialist, Christy Betchan, and the work she does to support the faculty and staff of Rockdale ISD.

Gov. Greg Abbott has proclaimed Oct. 14, as Texas Education Human Resources Day to honor the important contributions made by school staff who work in Human Resources.

The board told Betchan they were proud of her dedication to her job and to Rockdale ISD.

Thorndale City Hall reopens to the public

The Thorndale City Hall is now open to the public for any business that needs to be conducted there.

The Thorndale City Council voted to open the building back up at its regular meeting on Oct. 14.

The council also approved the purchase of a rough terrain vehicle for the public works department.

Groundwater districts to have joint meeting

There will be a joint meeting of the Post Oak Savannah, Fayette County, Lost Pines, Mid-East Texas and Brazos Valley groundwater conservation districts Oct. 22 at 10 a.m.

The meeting will be virtual and is open to the public.
