Choo-Choo Chili fundraiser Nov. 14

Get ready for some Choo-Choo Chili at the Depot on Nov. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 pm.

People who order the chili will be helping support the Depot Museum.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce or from any member of the Rockdale Heritage Society.

Agriculture board taking applications for member

The chief appraiser is taking applications for a new member to fill a vacancy on the agricultural advisory board to act as an adviser to the chief appraiser on the valuation and use of agricultural land.

Applicants should be local producers who have a working knowledge of current land lease prices and shares, cattle prices, crop prices and expenses.

Applications are available on the district’s website at www.milamad.org and at the Milam Appraisal District office at 120 N. Houston in Cameron.

Annual Thanksgiving community meal Nov. 21

The 20th annual Community Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner will be held at First Baptist Church on Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m. until sold out.

This year there will be no dine in available. Meals will be delivered in drivethrough style.

“There is delivery available if needed, and you can call your order in early before you pick up,” according to organizer Pamela King.

Rockdale chamber is in turkey talk business

It is time for the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s annual Turkey Give Away. Business owners can participate by purchasing at least two coupons at $25 each.

The tickets can then by awarded to business owner customers or KRXT will give them away for you. When KRXT or the Chamber give away your coupons, your business name will be announced as the sponsor.

Your business will be mentioned in an advertisement in The Rockdale Reporter, on KRXT and at the Chamber.

15th Buddy Oney Toy Run is set for Dec. 5

The 15th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will take place this year Dec. 5 at The Ranch at 415 W. U.S. 79 in Rockdale.

The annual ride, in memory of the late Buddy Oney, benefits the needy children of Milam County by giving 100 percent of the proceeds to The Milam County Child Protective Services board, Milam County Brown Santa Program, Thorndale Cares and The Rockdale Christmas Roundup.

Through its 14-year history the toy run has raised a little over $86,000 for these organizations that serve the less fortunate financially children of Rockdale and the rest of Milam County.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the first bike out at 11 a.m.

The ride fee is $20 for rider and $25 with a passenger or a new toy valued at $25.

The ride fee includes food after the ride for all ride participants.
