Thorndale OKs stop signs at intersection
The Thorndale City Council met March 10 in City Hall and voted to place stop signs one facing east and the other west at the intersection of Clements and Johnson streets.
The members also voted to approved the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department’s request to hold the annual department’s cookoff at City Park.
In another vote involving City Park, the council approved a variance to the city’s noise ordinance to allow travel trailers and recreational vehicles.
The city also accepted the donation of a police vehicle from the city of Rockdale.
Yard of the Month looking for contenders
Spring is upon us, and Rockdale Earth Day is looking for yards in the community, to consider for “Yard of the Month.” The program will be implemented for the next six months: April-September.
Yards must be within the city limits of Rockdale, and nominations are due by the 23rd of the preceding month. Send your nominations to: rockdaleearthday@yahoo.com.
Street Ministries offering how-to classes
This month Street Ministries will start community how-to classes at it building on Main Street in Rockdale.
The following dates and topics are on schedule and other classes are planned later.
March 23: Basic DIY Crafts
March 25: Basic Meal Prep
Future classes will involve financial planning, basic interview tips/ resume building and other topics.

Farmers’ Market set to start on April 3rd
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is bringing back its farmers’ market on the grounds of the of the historic Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W Cameron. The first market is set to be held April 3 from 8 a.m. to noon. It is then scheduled for each Saturday until the end of October.

RVFD fundraiser tickets now on sale
Tickets for the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fund raising night at the KC Hall are now on sale, according to spokesman Mike Korenek.
The fund raiser is set for May 15.
