Yard of the Month looking for contenders
Spring is upon us, and Rockdale Earth Day is looking for yards in the community, to consider for “Yard of the Month.” Yards must be within the city limits of Rockdale, and nominations are due by the 23rd of the preceding month. Send your nominations to: rockdaleearthday@yahoo.com.
Farmers’ Market now every Saturday morning
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is holding a farmers’ market on the grounds of the of the historic Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W Cameron. The market is held each Saturday from now until the end of October.
The hours are 8 a.m. to noon. Vendors can reserve spaces for the market by calling 512-446-2030.
Barbecue fundraiser to benefit MARC Center
The public can help out the MARC Center thanks to The Ranch and the Bad To The Bone Riders of Rockdale.
On June 12 there will be a to-go barbecue fundraiser starting at 11:30 a.m. and running until the barbecue is gone.

Street Ministries offering free classes
This month Street Ministries will start community how-to classes at it building on Main Street in Rockdale.
The class—Basic Cooking with Mauricio (Mo)— is 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 27 at 225 N. Main.

Gause student makes Provost’s List at MSU
Allison Moore has made the Provost’s Honor Roll at Midwestern State in Witchital Falls.
She is from Gause and is majoring in radiologic sciences at MSU.
RISD seeks nominations for alumni awards
The Rockdale ISD Distinguished Alumni Awards Program, which began in 2019, was created to recognize and honor all former graduates of the Rockdale Independent School District, Rockdale High School and Aycock High School, whose achievements, strengths of charac ter and citizenship serve as models to inspire and challenge today’s students.
Any person may submit a nomination for consideration to the district’s Awards Committee.
Nominations will be accepted until 4 p.m. on May 31, in odd-numbered years.

Magazine once again says Texas is tops in biz
For the 17th year in a row, Texas has been named the best state for business by the nation’s leading CEOs in an annual survey conducted by Chief Executive Magazine.
The rankings are determined by the CEOs’ assessments of each state’s business climate, workforce, and quality of life.
Texas has secured the top spot each year since the ranking’s inception.
‘Nunsense’ auditions set for later this month
Milam Community Theater will hold auditions for the musical “Nunsense“ May 24 at 7 p.m. and May 25 at 7 p.m.
Auditions for the musical will be held at the Williams Event Center in Cameron.
“Nunsense” is a musical farce about the convent of Little Sisters of Hoboken holding a fundraiser so they can bury four nuns currently in the convent freezer who died of an unfortunate food poisoning incident earlier.
Director Debbie Cable Brown is looking for five women to fill out the cast of Dan Goggin’s play
Those planning to audition should wear clothes they can move freely in.
