Railroad Museum sets dates for Jr. Engineers
The Milam County Railroad Museum is setting aside four Saturday mornings for Junior Engineers.
Beginning July 10, the museum will be open from 10 a.m. to noon for Junior Engineers ages 9-17 to enjoy sessions in model railroad building.
In addition, time will be set aside for our youngsters to operate some of the trains on the Old Town Cameron model. Cost is $25. You must commit to all four classes. The fee is nonrefundable or prorated. Space is limited to 12 students. Contact Jamie Larson at 512-455-9591 or email, jamlar50@yahoo. com to reserve a space. The dates are July 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Kids will get an idea of how to begin to set up their own train layout at home.
They will also learn about the impressive 18x42-foot Old Town Cameron model built by Cameron residents John and Frances Johnson.
Area businesses can be part July 4th celebration
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is making plans for the Milam County July 4th Fireworks Celebration on July 4 at Fair Park in Rockdale.
The countywide community event is free and will include food vendors and a fireworks display at dark.
The Chamber is seeking local businesses to host games for the kids to enjoy.
For a $5 donation, children can have unlimited play with red, white and blue glow in the dark bracelets that come with the donation.
Businesses can contact the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce at info@rockdalechamber.com to sponsor this year’s festivities. It’s a way to market your business to a countywide audience and show support for the July 4 activity.
