Railroad Museum sets dates for Jr. Engineers
The Milam County Railroad Museum is setting aside four Saturday mornings for Junior Engineers.
Beginning July 10, the museum will be open from 10 a.m. to noon for Junior Engineers ages 9 – 17 to enjoy sessions in model railroad building.
In addition, time will be set aside for our youngsters to operate some of the trains on the Old Town Cameron model.
Cost is $25.
You must commit to all four classes. The fee is non refundable or prorated. Space is limited to twelve students. Contact Jamie Larson at 512-455-9591 or email, jamlar50@yahoo.com to reserve a space. The dates are July 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Kids will get an idea of how to begin to set up their own train layout at home. They will also learn about the impressive eighteen by fortytwo-foot Old Town Cameron model built by Cameron residents John and Frances Johnson.
VFW Auxiliary seeking school supplies for kids
As one school year ends, the beginning of a new one is just a summer away. The VFW Auxiliary Post 6525 in Rockdale is now accepting donations for its 2021 School Supplies Drive.

Farmers’ Market is now every Saturday morning
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is holding a farmers’ market on the grounds of the of the historic Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W Cameron.
Hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
Yard of the Month looking for contenders
Rockdale Earth Day is looking for yards in the community, to consider for “Yard of the Month.” The program will be implemented for the next 6 months: April-September.
Yards must be within the city limits of Rockdale, and nominations are due by the 23rd of the preceding month. Send your nominations to: rockdaleearthday@yahoo.com.
