Webinar planned for small-business discussion
Gov. Greg Abbott’s Small Business Team and panel of experts will discuss workforce challenges in a webinar Sept. 1 at 1 p.m.

Health screenings are coming to Patterson
Residents living in and around the Rockdale areas can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with screenings by Life Line Screening next month in the George Hill Patterson Community Center
The screenings will check
• The level of plaque buildup in your arteries, related to risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke and overall vascular health.
• HDL and LDL Cholesterol levels.
• Diabetes risk.
• Bone density as a risk for possible osteoporosis.
• Kidney and thyroid function, and more.

Farmers’ Market is now every Saturday morning
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is holding a farmers’ market on the grounds of the of the historic Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W Cameron.
The market is held Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
Viet Nam Wall replica to be in Georgetown
The fifth annual Field of Honor will include the “Cost of Freedom” American Veteran Traveling Tribute.
The display, which is being brought to the area by The Rotary Club of Georgetown Foundation, includes the 80% replica of the Vietnam Wall and 72 additional panels that pay tribute to veterans of all other wars.
The week’s events will commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the First Cavalry at Fort Hood. There is no charge to visit the Field of Honor.

Shoebox group to hold inspirational meeting
Project leaders, including church, student, and community leaders, who work with shoebox gifts in the Mid-Texas Area, will be able to learn new ways to mobilize others to pack shoebox gifts for children in need.
The free event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Fellowship Hall of Immanuel Baptist Church at 1401 W. Central in Temple.
Snacks will be provided.
