Central Texas art competition, exhibition
Students from colleges and high schools in Central Texas are invited to submit entries for the 42nd annual Central Texas Art Competition and Exhibition.
The competition is sponsored by Altrusa International of Temple and the Temple South Rotary Club, and is coordinated by the Temple College Visual Arts Department. It is open to students from six area colleges and universities and 34 area high schools, with separate divisions for high school and college students.

The competition will be juried by Tamara Robertson, a practicing artist in Shreveport, Louisiana. Robertson holds an M.F.A. in Art from Stephen F. Austin State University. Six $125 Awards of Excellence and two $50 Honorable Mention Awards will be presented in each division, as well as a special Juror’s Award of $200.
The exhibition will open in the gallery of the Temple College Visual Arts Department on Saturday, Nov. 13, and will be on display through Dec. 2.
United Way Rockdale chapter raises $27,000

Davilla’s Fall Fest set for October 2
The fifth annual Fall Fest at the Davilla community center will be held Oct. 2 from 5 to 9 p.m.
There will be fun and games for the kids as well as food vendors. Silent auctions and raffles with prizes such as a handmade Texas flag quilt, a TV, gift baskets and gift cards.
The community Center is located at 20803North FM 487 in Davilla.
Commercial heifer sale Oct. 16th at Fair Park
The 2021 Rockdale commercial heifer sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16. A buyer’s breakfast at 9 a.m. at the Patterson Civic Center with the sale beginning at 10:30 a.m.
“We would like to invite and encourage you to come early to view the cattle,” said Scott Heintze, commercial heifer committee chairman.
