Fair Assn. scholarship applications available
The 2021-2022 Rockdale Fair Association Scholarship application is available to 4-H/FFA seniors.
“Please see any Milam County high school counselor or the extension agent for qualifications and requirements to complete the scholarship. In 2021, $10,750 was awarded to local Milam County seniors by the Rockdale Fair Association,” said Sheree Smith, Scholarship Chairperson.

Memorial Mardi Gras bash set for Feb. 19th
Tickets are on sale for the ninth annual Mardi Gras bash held on Feb. 19 to raise funds for the Christine Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The “Mardi Gras” bash will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, at Simon George Hall, 401 S. Karnes, in Cameron. The event will start at 6 p.m. and will include a Cajun food dinner, live auction, a 50/50, door prizes and activities for the kids.
The Mardi Gras bash was established to raise money for college scholarships to honor long time Milam County Extension Agent Christine Holcombe.
Adult tickets are $10 and children under 18 are $5. Tickets can be purchased at the Milam County Extension Office in Cameron, the Cameron Chamber of Commerce or Thorndale Meat Market in Thorndale.
Over the past nine years $111,000 in scholarships have been awarded to Milam County students who are currently in college.
