The Thorndale City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Thorndale City Hall, 105 N. Main.

The council may accept the resignation of Municipal Judge Gary Northcott. Discussion and possible action to appoint an interim or hire his successor is also on the agenda.

Also to be discussed is a reduction of water tap fees for the Country Meadows II development, an update on the City Water Supply Project and water meter replacement, and possible discontinuation of the City Brush Dump being open one weekend per month.

Rockdale Rotary sets Pints for Polio event

Rockdale Rotary club will host a “Pints for Polio” fundraiser at the East Bell Taphouse from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15.

“End Polio” is a signature endeavor of the Rotary International organization across the world. The Rockdale Rotary is doing its part in making in helping eradicate polio.

Events during the day include a dessert auction, coloring for kids, Corn Hole Tournament, Arm Stretch Raffle and more.

RISD extends period for alumni honors

Rockdale ISD has extended its request period for nominations for the 2024 Rockdale ISD Distinguished Alumni class. The deadline to nominate has been extended to Oct. 15. An induction ceremony will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024.

Bartlett Electric Co-op sets membership event

The Bartlett Electric Cooperative will hold its 87th annual meeting of the members on Monday, Oct. 16, at The Hall on 2268, 12141 FM 2268 in Holland. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the business session is at 6:30.

The membership will elect three directors. Nominations include: District 2, Mike Adamson, Killeen; District 4, Eugene Urbanovsky, Milano; and District 6, Dr. Jamiesue Ferguson, Bartlett.
