Deadline is Friday for

Roundup nominations

Friday is the deadline to nominate persons to be served by Rockdale’s Christmas Roundup, which provides holiday cheer for the less fortunate.

Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, One-Stop Center, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rock-dale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale City Hall, Rock-dale Senior Citizen’s Center, Rockdale Christian Services & Food Pantry and local churches.

Monetary donations can be deposited in the Christmas Roundup account at Citizens National Bank or sent to PO Box 766, Rockdale, Texas 76567.

Food and toy donations can be taken to Rockdale Signs at anytime.

Blood drawing ahead

Sunday at St. Paul’s

THORNDALE—Baylor Scott & White Health will host a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 12-noon Sunday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Thorndale.

A photo ID is required to donate.

All blood donors during December will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt.

‘Tree of Angels’ ahead

Monday at museum

CAMERON—The Milam County & District Attorney’s Office will sponsor the 20th Annual “Tree of Angels” ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday, at the Milam County Museum in downtown Cameron.

The “Tree of Angels” program is celebrated and enables survivors of violent crime and victims’ families to place an angel ornament on a special Christmas tree. Members of the armed services will also be remembered and honored.

Participants are asked to bring an angel ornament tagged with the first and last name of the person to be remembered or honored. Those not able to attend should contact Natalie Keen at (254) 697-7013 or keen@milamcounty.net for more information.

Refreshments will be served. Donations can be made to the Tree of Angels Account at Buckholts State Bank in Cameron, Buckholts or Rogers.

Monday reception will honor outgoing judge

CAMERON—Dave Barkemeyer, outgoing Milam County Judge will be honored with a reception in the Milam County Courthouse on Monday.

The reception will be held at 11 a.m., immediately following the regularly scheduled commissioners court meeting which will be held in the commissioners courtroom on the second floor

Barkemeyer served two terms as county judge. He was first elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.

He passed up the 2018 ballot and Steve Young was elected as his successor.

The Central Texas Workforce Center, 313 North Main in the One-Stop Center, is assisting laid-off employees of Little River Healthcare with Work in Texas registration and unemployment benefit applications with special sessions on Monday.

Hours for the Little River special sessions Monday are 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Regular Workforce Center office hours are Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and Thursday 9 to 6.
