RFCU annual meeting Monday at KC Hall
Rockdale Federal Credit Union’s annual meeting is set for Monday at the KC Hall.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with refreshment served between 4:30 and 5:30.
The annual meeting will be held from 5:30 to approximately 6:30.
To facilitate the annual meeting, both Rockdale and Thorndale branch lobbies will close at 4 p.m. Monday, followed by drivethroughs at 4:30.
Workforce Solutions
sets job fair Friday
Workforce Solutions of Central Texas-Rockdale will host a job fair Friday at the Patterson Civic Center, according to Julia Car-dona, center director.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 12-noon.
She said employers are welcome to attend but must reserve tables by Wednesday, March 20.

Benefit ride scheduled at Nat’s March 30th
A benefit ride/fund raiser for Dendy Brown is scheduled for March 30 leaving from Nat’s near Milano.
Brown was critically injured in an accident last September. He has had 11 surgeries and has at least two more to go.
Registration for the ride (bikes, trikes and trucks) starts at 9 a.m. Fee is $20 for riders, $25 with passenger. T-shirts are $20, pre-order.
Food is provided to participants.
Barbecue plates, priced at $10, will be sold to the public from 11:30 a.m. until sold out. There’s also live music by Southern Groove, live and silent auctions.

Surplus food visit set Thursday at KC Hall
Central Texas Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry will have a distribution at 9 a.m. Thursday, at the KC Hall east of Rockdale.
Since the distribution relies totally on volunteer help, volunteers will be needed and greatly appreciated, according to Deanie Houser, spokesperson.
Contact Houser at 512-446-3336 for further information. Distributions are held the third Thursday of each month. Clients are asked to bring sacks, boxes or containers for groceries.
Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
Free movie Saturday
set to aid nature center
A free movie featuring the world famous Lippanzer Horses/Spanish Riding School will follow a silent auction March 23 to benefit an Austin church which wants to establish a nature center in Rockdale.
Spokesperson Barbara Malone said the American Fellowship Church will host the silent auction from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by the movie from 3 to 5 at the Hunter’s Chase Senior complex, 1501 East Belton.
She said many members have donated many high-end luxury items (Chanel, Coach, Neiman Marcus and others) for the silent auction.
Malone said all proceeds go directly to an exclusive account opened for the Central Texas Education and Nature Center at Rock-dale Federal Credit Union.
Chamber banquet
ahead on March 28th
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce Banquet is set for March 28 at the KC Hall, this year.
“People are going all out ‘Hollywood style,’ this year and dressing the part,” Chamber spokesperson Denise Brock said.
“We will have a photo booth as in the past, so make the most of it. Be sure and send in your nominations for awards,” Brock said.
The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., with the meal to be served about 6:45.
VFW cookoff to help
Cancer Society effort
“Cookin For the Cause at the VFW,” a cookoff to assist the American Cancer Society will be held Saturday, March 30, at VFW Post 6525, 978 US 79 in Rock-dale.
There’s competition in three categories, chili (entry fee $20), stew ($20) and beans ($10).
Set-up can be as early at 7 a.m. with awards at 5:30 p.m. Jackpot beans is winner take all with first through third places awarded for chili and stew.
There’s also a washer tourney at 6 p.m., a 50/50 fund raiser and silent auction.

Blood drive March 31 at St. Paul Lutheran
THORNDALE—St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Thorndale will host a Baylor Scott & White Blood Center blood drive on Sunday, March 31.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 12-noon.
All donors in March will receive a free, limited edition T-shirt.
A photo ID is required to donate blood.
