Workshop for students scheduled on Mondays

“Spring into the Future,” job search and financial management workshops for Rockdale High School students are being held every Monday through April 15.

They begin at 3:30 p.m. in the high school library.

Sponsors are Workforce Solutions, the Rockdale ISD P-TO and CPA Marvin Clements.

The annual Milano VFD Auxiliary Spring Garage Sale is set for Thursday through Saturday at the fire station.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 to 1 on Saturday.

CNB names branch

manager for Rockdale

Citizens National Bank, has announced Jim Morse has joined the team as branch president for the Rockdale location.

A graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Finance, Morse extended his education at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado where he graduated with honors.

His professional experience includes serving in senior management as Chief Credit Officer at a community bank in West Texas. Most recently, Morse utilized his perspective and expertise in the banking needs of business owners to open a surgery center for two Fort Worth doctors.

Morse also earned a spot on the prestigious “40 under 40” list named by the Fort Worth Business Press.

Stash Your Trash set

April 13 at Fair Park

The annual spring Stash Your Trash event for Rock-dale residents is set for 8 a.m. to 12-noon Saturday, April 13 at Fair Park.

Residents will be able to dispose of many items free in roll-off containers.

City Manager Chris Whittaker said items may also be placed at curbside on regular trash disposal days throughout the year or by scheduling a special pickup with Progressive, the city’s garbage contractor.

Those taking advantage of Stash Your Trash should enter Fair Park through the main gate at Mill Street and exit Gate 5 at Roberts Street. Look for signs.

Free chipping will also be offered for limbs four inches and smaller. Limbs must be loaded from a truck or trailer.

“Please separate metal from regular trash for easier disposal,” he said.

Stash Your Trash cannot accept motor oil, batteries and any items which contain refrigerant, hazardous chemicals or paint in liquid form.

The event is restricted to residents of Rockdale and residence will be verified at the site. City residents may bring a driver’s license and water bill.

Those needing help getting trash to Fair Park on April 13 should call the city a 512-446-2511.

Community Theater

set to stage ‘Peter Pan’

Milam Community Theater will open its 2019 youth season with “Peter Pan” beginning this weekend at the Williams Civic Center in Cameron.

Performances are 6 p.m. April 6 and 13 and 3 p.m. April 7 and 14.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.milamcommunitytheater.com.

RCP notes limited seating is available so early ticket purchase is strongly advised.

Tire collection ahead

April 27 in Cameron

A tire collection is planned from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Precinct 2 Barn, 3106 North Travis in Cameron.

The collection event will accept tires with rims, tubes and tire pieces and all tractor tires.

It will not accept any industrial sized tires of over the size of 17.5-25, according to Precinct 2 Commissioner Donald Shuffield.
