Tire collection ahead
Saturday in Cameron
A tire collection is planned from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Precinct 2 Barn, 3106 North Travis in Cameron.
The collection event will accept tires with rims, tubes and tire pieces and all tractor tires.
It will not accept any industrial sized tires over the size of 17.5-25, according to Precinct 2 Commissioner Donald Shuffield.

Outgoing school board member recognized
Michelle Lehmkuhl, who is leaving the Rockdale ISD board of trustees after 12 years was recognized by the board last Tuesday.
She had previously served three years as board president and was vice-president for seven years prior to that.
In other business during the regular monthly session, trustees heard Supt. Dr. Denise Monzingo report that the elementary and intermediate campuses will qualify for a 100-percent free-meal plan for students in 2019-20.
RHS Art Show opening Thursday downtown
The annual Rockdale High School Art Show opening, and National Art Honor Society induction ceremony, will be held Thursday, in The Community Room on Main Street across from Wolf Park.
Jean Griffin, RHS art instructor, said cookies and punch will be served.
She said the show will open at 6 p.m. with art awards announced at 6:30 and the art honor induction to follow.
Appraisal district sets ‘tax season’ changes
CAMERON—The Milam Appraisal District will close one day, then re-open with new hours for “tax season.”
According to Chief Appraiser Dyann White, the district will be closed on Monday, The office will re-open at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
From Tuesday until July 31, the public hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
May 2 town hall will discuss home numbers
A 6 p.m. Thursday, May 2, town hall is scheduled at the city library to receive input on a proposed requirement for house and street numbering addresses in the city.

New Farmer’s Market planned for downtown
A new Farmer’s Market is planned in downtown Rock-dale for 8 a.m. Saturday mornings beginning May 4 and continuing through Oct. 26.
Location is the International & Great Northern Depot Museum, Main at Milam.
Vendors are wanted at no fee.

MDD okays ad expense in state publication
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD), meeting Monday in regular session, agreed to participate in taking out a full-page ad in “Go Big in Texas,” a publication of the Texas Economic Development Corporation and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Corporation.
Executive Director Kara Clore said expenses are anticipated to be split between the county, MDD and Cameron Economics Development Corporation.
Health Survey ahead throughout county
County and state health departments will conduct a door-to-door Health Assessment Survey Friday and Saturday throughout the county.
About 200 homes will be randomly selected. Survey will take 15-20 minutes.
Mayfest ahead May 5th at Rockdale KC Hall
The annual St. Josephs Mayfest will be held May 5 at the KC Hall with barbecue sale, auctions and prize drawing.
