Rockdale Fair season ticket sales continue
Season ticket sales for the 2019 Rockdale Fair continue this week at a number of locations as follows:
Rockdale—The Rockdale Reporter, The Ranch, City Hall, Citizens National Bank Downtown, Citizens National Bank Drive-Through, Rock-dale Federal Credit Union, Brookshire Brothers, Rockdale Signs and Whiteley Farm Supply.
Thorndale—Rockdale Federal Credit Union Thorndale Branch.
Cameron—Anderle Lumber.
Tickets may also be purchased from Fair queen pageant contestants.
PAGEANTS—First events of the 2019 Fair will be the Miss Rockdale Fair Queen and Children’s pageants, both set for Saturday, Oct. 12 in the RHS Auditorium.
Meetings for contestants in both those pageants are set for Sunday in the high school auditorium, 5 p.m. for the queen contest and 2 p.m. for the children’s pageant.
‘Paranormal’ speaker returning to library
Former Rockdale resident Greg Lawson, now a paranormal explorer, lecturer and author, will return for this third visit to the city library at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.
The free program will focus on “traditional scary stories” and will include a book signing. He is the author of two books on the paranormal.
Lawson is a 26-year law enforcement officer and a 10-year military veteran. He is currently a lake patrol and underwater recovery team sergeant in Central Texas
Lawson deployed to Central America, Europe, North Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Western Pacific.
He is a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and holds an honorary commission in the Texas Navy.
RISD pumpkin patch in operation Oct. 13-31
Rockdale ISD will sponsor a pumpkin patch in front of Rockdale Intermediate School from noon-8 p.m., Oct. 13-31.
All proceeds from the market will benefit Christmas Roundup’s food and toys for local families during the holiday.
