One more flu clinic for Milam Health Dept.
The Milam County Health Department will host a flu clinic from 10 to 11 a.m Friday at the Buckholts Community Center.
According to the Health Department, the vaccine will be given at no cost to those with Medicare Part B (must present card) while all others will be charged $30, cash or check.
Patients ages three years and older. will be accepted.

Memorial ‘ruck-n-ride’ to honor fallen soldiers
A memorial “ruck and ride” to honor two Milam County men who died in the Global War on Terror is set for Saturday, along highways named for them.
A portion of US 77 north of Rockdale is named for Master Sgt. Charles Price, while a segment north of Cameron is named for 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews, both Cameron natives.
The event will begin with a ruck—moving gear by backpack—along the Andrews segment at 2 p.m., starting from Cameron’s City Park.
A motorcycle and classic car procession will begin at 3 p.m. from Rockdale Brookshire Bros. and travel along the Price segment.
The two streams of travel will meet at Cameron City Park at 3:15 p.m. and a presentation honoring all county and municipalities’ military, law enforcement, fire and emergency responders follows at 3:30 p.m.
Decorations sought for 2019 holiday season
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce wants businesses to start thinking now about decorating for the holidays.
“We ask that you have your decorating completed by Nov. 22, the day before we expect visitors for the Whistle Stop Wine tour and Holiday Lights Festival Nov. 23, Denise Brock, Chamber executive director, said.
Oney Toy Run slated
for Dec. 7 at The Ranch
The 14th Annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning and ending at The Ranch.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. on that morning with the first bike out at 11.
Last bike will return not later than 4 p.m.
Registration is $20 per rider, $25 with passenger, or a new toy valued at $25. Registration fee includes food for participants.

Christmas Roundup
accepting applications
Plans for Rockdale Christmas Roundup are now underway, according to Allen Sanders, spokesman for the annual Christmas Cheer drive.
Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, One-Stop Center, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale City Hall and local churches.
Deadline to nominate families or individuals who are in need of assistance this Christmas will be Friday, Dec. 6.
‘Alternative’ graduation possible at Rockdale
Rockdale ISD has established alternative graduation requirements for students who entered high school before the 2011-2012 school year but did not graduate due to not passing all parts of the TAAS or TAKS standardized test.
It is up to the individual students to contact the district about graduating under the new provisions.
Students are eligible to graduate under the alternative requirements if they meet all other graduation requirements except for the state standardized test component. They must have taken the TAAS or TAKS at least three times in order to qualify.
Any student interested in participating in this program can visit the Rockdale ISD website, fill out the Alternate Graduation Application, and schedule an appointment with the RISD Alternate Graduation Committee for approval. Brown Santa taking
applications for 2019
Brown Santa, the Milam County Sheriff Department’s Christmas-time drive to provide toys for the needy will take applications at the sheriff’s office in Cameron from Nov. 15 to Dec. 12.
Applicants must bring a Medicaid or WIC card with the child’s name, a current utility bill, a birth certificate (if the child is not in school) or a report card/progress report if the child is in school.
Parents/guardians must have valid Texas IDs. Applications may be picked up at the sheriff’s office beginning Friday.
New, unwrapped toys may be donated at the sheriff’s office. Money may be donated at the Brown Santa account at Classic Bank or by mail to: Brown Santa/Wynema Adams, 512 North Jefferson, Cameron, TX 76520.
Seven draw sentences in district court action
CAMERON—Seven persons were sentenced in recent 20th District Court action, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey who listed case dispositions as follows:
• Billy Don Norman Jr., 55, Rockdale, two-year prison term after pleading “true” to a motion to revoke probation for possession of controlled substance (less than one gram) in a drug-free zone.
• Travis Carter Stanford, 39, Cameron, 24-month state jail division term after pleading guilty to unauthorized use of motor vehicle.
• Melissa Mae Miller, 38, Cameron, four years deferred adjudication $360 restitution to the DPS lab after pleading guilty to a possession of controlled substance (less than one gram) in a drug-free zone.
• William Allen Hatch, 19, Austin, one year deferred adjudication $4,000 fine, $180 in restitution to the DPS Lab after pleading guilty to lesser Included Class A misdemeanor, attempted possession of controlled substance (less than one gram).
• Pamela Strasheim, 58, College Station, 10-year prison term probated for three years, $4,000 fine after pleading guilty to DWI-third or more.
• Jayla Lanell Cavil, 20, Austin, three years deferred adjudication $2,000 fine and $180 restitution to the DPS lab after pleading guilty to possession of controlled substance (less than one gram).
• John Stieber, 28, Cedar Park, three years deferred adjudication, $180 restitution to the DPS lab after pleading guilty to possession of controlled substance.
