Free summer meals served at Rockdale ISD
School is out, but no-cost summer meals for children 18 and under are being served at the intermediate campus.
Hours are as follows:
• Breakfast, 7:30 to 8 a.m. Monday through Thursday.
• Lunch, 11 to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
Rockdale Intermediate School is located at 1338 West US 79, west of Walmart.
Meals will be served through June 28.

City, Fair Association ironing out pact details
The City of Rockdale and the Rockdale Fair Association are continuing to meet and work on a memorandum of understanding spelling out the exact relationship between the city and RFA.
James Birkhead, RFA volunteer, attended Monday’s council session and expressed appreciation for the ongoing discussions.
The city owns Fair Park, site of the annual Fair, and the RFA has built and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of buildings to the city since the first Fair in 1976.
In other business Monday, not covered in the front page story in this week’s Reporter, the council:
• Gave second reading approval to an ordinance closing and abandoning some Hickory Street right-of-way to formalize an agreement between the city and a local church over a water pipeline issue.
• Okayed a PACE clean energy program to assist a local business desiring to apply through it.
• Approved the Milam County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Row Crops Tour set for June 29 from Cameron
CAMERON—The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Milam County will hold its annual crops tour June 29, departing from the County Extension Office, 10 East First in downtown Cameron.
County Agent Floyd Ingram said the tour will visit plots and discuss current issues related to row crop production in the county.
Cost will be $10 each Registration will be 7 to 7:30 a.m.
Speakers will be:
Dr. Gaylon Morgan, state extension cotton specialist, discussing Milam County’s replicated cotton variety trail and current topics in the cotton industry.
• Dr. Ronnie Schnell, state extension specialist for corn and sorghum, discussing replicated corn and sorghum variety trials planted in Milam County and current topics in the feed grain industry.
• Dr. Clark Neely, state small grain extension specialist, discussing benefits and processes of haylage production in Central Texas.
Afternoon session along with lunch catered by Thorndale Meat Market, will be held at the Thorndale VFW.
MDD still dealing with loss of plastics plant
The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) is still dealing with the loss of the Pari Olefins plastics business, which is not coming to Rockdale.
Thursday, the MDD board authorized Executive Director Kara Clore tk explore options on the $1.1-million and $600,000 bonds which were to have been used is support of the business venture.
