Saturday night Rockdale Earth Day celebrated International Day of Peace at Wolf Park with about 100 people in attendance. RHS band members Adeana Limon, Destinee Bluford, Tyler Roberts, Jude Brackin and band director Andrew Quinn entertained the audience with “America the Beautiful” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” RHS students Zachary Karl, Caroline Jayamaha, Mason Harris and Riley Tindle gave a reading on peace. Mayor Ward Roddam gave the welcome and also introduced speaker Rev. Heath Dewrell from St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Prayers of peace were offered by Rev. Jeff Davis from All Saints Episcopal Church in Cmeron and Rev. Madison Garcia-Tabor of St. John’s United Methodist Church. The KCD Band also provided music during the ceremony. Attendees enjoyed refreshments and visiting after the ceremony.
