NO. 1,227?

—Two Mondays ago, Rockdale City Manager Chris Whittaker told a packed city council chambers there had been 1,226 water line breaks, 6 in water mains (primary carriers) since January, 2015. If this was No. 1,227 (and No. 47) it didn’t take long to happen. Paul Nieto and a city crew were dispatched to this situation Monday morning at the Murray-Miller intersection. The city is seeking grant/ loan money for a major overhaul. See editorial, page 5A.
