Chalk in up to Shelter-In-Place.

For the third consecutive week-long reporting period there were no motor vehicle accidents reported to Rockdale police within the city limits.

Records of such statistics aren’t formally kept, but chances are such a threeweek period hasn’t happened here for many years.

(That’s only inside the city limits, of course. It was a deadly week on rural roads in the county with a two-fatality accident on FM 487 during the Tuesday-to-Monday reporting period.)

“It’s obviously the sheltering-in-place,” Lt. Stephen Goodrich of the Rockdale Police Department said. “There’s just a lot less people on the roads. You can see that plainly. People are staying home.”

Ironically, police are seeing an up-tick in disturbances since the Shelter-In-Place Order was issued in late March.
