POLICE REPORT
No injuries were reported Friday from the third “vehicle-pedestrian” accident along US 79 in west central Rockdale during a five-week period.
Police were called to the parking lot of O’Rielly’s Auto Parts in the 1000 block of West Cameron (US 79) at 11:42 a.m. Friday.
Police said a pickup driven by Jefferey Ruempel of Thorndale was in collision with a bicycle operated by Jesse Gonzales.
According to police, Gonzales was not injured and the bicycle sustained some damage.
Police Chief Thomas Harris said the incident is classified as a “vehicle pedestrian” accident.
In two other vehicle-pedestrian accidents, Nov. 22 and Dec. 10, the pedestrians were transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Both of those involved residents of the Budget Inn crossing the highway.
INJURY—An injury was reported in the second accident investigated by police during the week.
Police were called to West Cameron Avenue (US 79) and Parkway at 7:20 p.m. Friday for a two-vehicle collision.
Drivers were listed as Danielle Mooring and Ava Cavazos, both of Rockdale.
Police said Cavazos was transported to Baylor Scott & White, Temple, for treatment following the collision.
Moderate damages were reported to both vehicles by police.
ARRESTS—A traffic stop at 10 p.m. Friday resulted in several charges being filed against a Rockdale woman.
April Denise Knight, 42, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram), failure to ID/intentionally giving false information and with traffic warrants.
On Christmas Day police arrested Charles Ray Porter, 28, of Rockdale on a parole violation warrant.
CITATIONS—Police issued 18 traffic tickets during the past week, 14 for speeding and two each for no insurance and expired registration.
OFFENSES—Offense investigations begun by police during the week included two for criminal mischief ($100 to $750) and one for criminal trespass/
WARRANTS—Police served six warrants during the week, including one for non-payment of child support.
CALLS—Officers responded to 181 calls during the week and there were 89 calls to the 911 emergency service.
