LEXINGTON—The University Interscholastic League is not “throwing a flag” on Rockdale and Lexington after a fight erupted at Eagle Field Friday night following the Rockdale-Lexington football game.

Social media and the “grapevine” were buzzing Monday with rumors that the UIL was poised to invoke sanctions against both schools.

That’s not true, according to Rockdale ISD Supt. Dr. Denise Monzingo, who told The Reporter the UIL is not investigating the incident which occurred after the Tigers and Eagles played an exciting one-point game.

FAN ATTACK—Cindy Terrell, Publisher/Editor of The Lexington Leader, told The Reporter Lexington Police Chief Chris Landrum said a fan, believed to be from Dime Box, “attacked” a Rockdale player as players and fans attempted to exit the stadium.

When Tiger players, and fans, rushed to his defense a number of scuffles broke out.

Landrum said the fan who touched off the incident then went to his vehicle and left.

Investigators of the incident, who include Lexington Police, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and a Lee County Constable, were searching for the suspect early this week.

TRESPASSED—Terrell said a charge of assault—a Class C misdemeanor—could be filed.

She said the Lexington ISD may also file a “criminal mischief” charge against the instigator, getting him on the “trespassed” list as not being able to set foot on Eagle Field.
