There must be some poker players in Rockdale politics because someone must be holding cards close to the vest.
With a week to go before the Feb. 14 filing deadline there are no candidates for the Rockdale City Council and only one for the school board.
Incumbents have filed for the hospital district and for Milano’s city council and school board.
ROCKDALE—Incumbent Rockdale ISD school board member Julia Cardona has filed for re-election to her Place 7 position.
And that’s it eight days out.
All is quiet on the city front with no filings at all for the city ballot as of noon Tuesday.
Terms expiring are incumbents Doug Calame (west ward) and Denise Holmes-Wallace (east ward).
Filing is at Rockdale City Hall.
The other school board term expiring in 2020 is for Place 6, the seat currently held by Lin Perry.
Filing is in the RISD Central Office, 520 West Davilla.
All the Rockdale Hospital Board incumbents whose terms expire this year seeking new terms.
They are:
• Gerri Offield, Place 2 (East Ward).
• Karolyn Puccio, Place 4 (West Ward).
• Lachelle Matthews, (At-Large).
Forms to file may be picked up at City Hall or the district office in the former Richards Memorial Hospital.
MILANO—No new filings for the week in Milano where all of the city and school incumbents had previously fi led.
In the Milano ISD, trustees Ed Westbrook and Jay Willingham are seeking new terms.
Milano City Council members Edward Lenz and John Paniagua have also filed, seeking new terms.
Filing for both city and school is at the MISD Superintendent’s office.
THORNDALE—There have been two filings for the Thorndale ISD School Board, which received its first candidates.
Lance Weidner and Terrell Weise have filed for at-large terms on the board.
Thorndale ISD trustees whose terms expire this year are those of Chad Martinka and Kimberly Biar.
Filing is at the TISD Superintendent’s Office.
No filings for the Thorn-dale city election have been reported as of noon Tuesday.
Filing is at Thorndale City Hall. Terms expiring are those of council members Alan Hejl, Wayne Green and Steven Zuehlke.
Entities have the option to cancel their elections if there are no contested races on the ballot.
