A most bizarre crime story came to an end over the weekend in Rockdale, thanks to an effort between the Rockdale Police Department and an eagle-eyed Rockdale citizen.

Glen Boswell, 31, a suspect in a capital murder case in Temple, was arrested by Ofc. Lauren Hensley on the US 77 overpass in east Rockdale on Saturday just after 1 p.m.

“We received a call from a citizen stating that a male matching the suspect’s description was on the US 77 overpass,” Police Chief Jerry Meadors said.

“Upon Ofc. Hensley’s arrival, she recognized Boswell,” Meadors continued. “Ofc. Hensley presented her firearm, ordered Boswell to the pavement, and took him into custody without further incident.”

Rowdy Mays, a 25-yearold man from Temple driving a 2019 Chevy Colorado, had picked up Boswell who was hitchhiking. Boswell stole the pickup, which was found in Rockdale on Thursday near the eastern city limits.

Mays was found in the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Temple, suffering from stab wounds around 6:15 p.m. Thursday and later died at Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

Boswell is in custody in the Bell County Jail on a $1-million bond.
