Rockdale police have closed their investigation into an allegation of “excessive force” against an officer with Police Chief Jerry Meadors terming the charge “completely unfounded.”

Brittany Lopez had alleged she was thrown to the sidewalk after a traffic stop.

Meadors told The Reporter the video from the police car was reviewed and a statement was taken from the complainant.

“She made two pretty egregious traffic violations and the officer pulled her over,” Meadors said. “He was calm and professional.”

Lopez alleged her Fourth Amendment rights had been violated and that she was thrown to the ground.

Meadors said the officer placed the complainant in handcuffs.

“She resisted a little bit and he was in the process of trying to turn her around,” Meadors said. “Their feet got tangled up and she tripped and went down. He tripped too, almost fell right on top of her.”
