Tatiana Olivares, a 2023 RHS graduate, graduated from the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) over the weekend and will enter the prestigious United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD for the next four years.
The mission of NAPS is to enhance midshipman candidates’ moral, mental and physical foundations to prepare them for success at the Naval Academy. NAPS is a one-year posthigh school program which emphasizes preparation in English composition, mathematics, chemistry, physics and information technology.
Once Olivares graduates from the U.S. Naval Academy she will have the option to go into the Marine Corps or the Navy. She hopes to become a pilot and go into marine aviation, specifically flying helicopters.
Olivares, daughter of Jose and Esmeralda Olivares, received a $180,000 scholarship from the United States Marine Corps just before graduating from RHS. She was also one of four RHS students who graduated with an associate’s degree from Temple College in 2023.
Olivares was involved in National Honor Society, student council, cheerleading, band FFA, powerlifting, was a Red Cross blood drive coordinator, worked after school with the RJH iTigers program and at Caffey Corner.
