Milano High School’s One-Act Play advanced from district contest on Friday during competition held at the C.H. Yoe High School Performing Arts Center. The group’s performance of scenes from “Bloody Jack” by Tim Kelly will compete next at bi-district on March 25 in Normangee.
Milano’s OAP crew was named “best crew” at Friday’s contest. Crew member include Noah Wall, Mary Brown, Nickolas Grimes, Justice Gilmore, Lorelai Burns, Amie Weaver and Thomas Matthews.
Cordell Spears was named to the all-star cast, with Bryanna Graf and Christopher Stranger earning honorable mention allstar cast awards.
The group is directed by Stonie Wall, Susan Meyer and Sherry LaGrone.
AG BOOSTERS-The Milano Gause Ag Booster meeting will be held Sunday, March 15, at 5 p.m. in the Milano High School cafeteria.
MELTON BENEFIT-A benefit is planned March 22 for Milano resident Richard Melton and family. The event is being held to help with expenses during his battle and treatments with gastric cancer. Many are ready and willing to help Richard, his wife Jenny, and their seven children.
The event will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Rockdale and will start at 11 a.m. The event was to be held at The Ranch, but the amount of those wanting to help grew to a point where a larger venue was needed.
They will be selling barbecue plates, sides and desserts, dine in or to-go. They will also be selling t-shirts and have a live auction, washer tournament and fundraiser.

`OUTDOORS BASKET’-Milano Junior High eighth-grade class is having an “Outdoors Basket” fundraiser with proceeds to go to their end of year trip. PROJECT GRADUATION-Milano Project Graduation is selling meal tickets for its April 5 chicken dinner fundraiser. The tickets are $10 each and will be to-go. Plates will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include barbecue chicken, green beans, potatoes, bread, dessert and drink. Contact any Milano senior about purchasing tickets.
TEXAS BLAZE-The Texas Blaze RTX 12U softball team, which includes several girls and coaches from the Milano and Milam County area, are selling tickets to help with getting them to the national tournament this summer.
There are two separate fundraisers.
The first cost $20 per ticket and prizes include: cooler full of “spirits,” $500 gift card, $200 gift card, $100 gift card and two tickets to Six Flags. Winners will be drawn April 10.
The other is a “10 guns in 10 days” drawing. Tickets are $50 each. Starting on April 1, one ticket a day will be drawn live on the team’s Facebook page for 10 days.
Gun winners must pass background checks to claim guns.
