Texas Department of Transportation work on one US 79 project started Monday and another one will begin Nov. 2.
The project that began Monday will overlay existing pavement on US 79, from 2 miles west of FM 1786 to 2.4 miles west of FM 487. Drivers can expect delays and various lane closures throughout the duration of the project, a TxDOT spokesman said.
Watch for traffic control and messages posted along the work area. If possible, TxDOT encourages drivers to plan for extra travel time through this area or seek other routes.
This project is contracted to Knife River Corp. for $1.91 million. The project is expected to be complete in January 2021.
Then on Nov. 2, the Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor will begin milling and inlaying existing pavement, and perform other work that will be required to put in sidewalks, signals and lighting, drainage structures, and pavement repairs. Drivers can expect delays and various lane closures throughout the duration of the project.
This project is contracted to Big Creek Construction for $4.54 million. The project is expected to be complete in May 2022.
