A very successful 18th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run was held on Saturday raising $2,500 more than the organization’s record year for a total of $13,650 with more donations promised. They money raised will be distributed to the Milam County Child protective Services Board, the Milam County Brown Santa program, Thorndale Cares and the Rockdale Christmas Roundup for Christmas gifts for less fortunate children.
The Bad to the Bone riders named the fundraiser after Buddy Oney and do this in his memory.
The 38 riders in this year’s toy run started at The Ranch with stops at sponsors the Cameron VFW, Rockdale VFW, Cindy’s Hawg Hangout and Cliff’s Tavern.
Once the riders got back to The Ranch, they enjoyed a meal provided by Brookshire Brothers and prepared by Brady’s Pest Control crew.
Donations are still being accepted and you may do so by contacting event organizers Charles Starr at 512-5402561 or Neal Ferrell at 512-299-7446.
