Music Club members meet at Gest home

The Matinee Musical Club met at the home of Marie Gest with Lisa Loewe as co-hostess.

Everett-St. John has agreed to take over as secretary until the end of the year.

Program leaders Mary Ann Fenske and Annette Griesbach presented “Footprints in the Snow,” a history of the 110-year-old organization. which was established on MaryAnn Perry’s front porch.

Members sang, accompanied by Dixie Whitmore on the piano. MMC yearbooks from 1909 and 1995 were passed around.

Lee Thomason played “After You’re Gone” on the trumpet for a singalong.

MMC is a member of the Texas and National Federation of Music Clubs.—Victoria Everett-St. John, secretary.

Historical Society sets meeting at Forest Grove

The Milam County Historical Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11 at Forest Grove Christian Church south of Rockdale on US 77.

Ambassadors schedule events for February

Chamber Ambassadors are beginning the year with ribbon cuttings, volunteering to help with Real World Rockdale at the high school (see separate story), and hosting First Friday at the city library Feb. 1.

Next monthly meeting is at noon, Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Hogan-Hall Building beside the Chamber.

Come dressed in red and bring Valentines to exchange. Bring your lunch if you would like—Janice King, president.

Real World Financial

Fair set January 10th

The first Real World Rockdale Financial Reality was held Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The live simulation provided students with a career choice based on their feedback and a starting salary based on local workforce data.

Students made choices to stay within their budget while paying for basic necessities such as housing, utilities, food, and transportation.

The event was a project of Rockdale Career Technical Education, Citizens National Bank, and the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.—
