Thursday Reading Club plans and meetings
At an opening luncheon in September at the home of Patricia McKee, The Thursday Reading Club met to begin the 2022-2023 year of business. The luncheon was hosted by the yearbook committee, Chairman Joan Ratliff, Jeanie Weed and Mrs. McKee and featured a business meeting and presentation of the new yearbook and theme for the year which is “Banned or Challenged Books.” The October meeting was at the home of Peggy Cooke and the program was presented by Geri Burnett on the frequently-listed-onthe- banned-book-lists The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie.
Members were reminded by club president Wilma Owens that the club is hosting the First Friday Coffee at the library in November and made plans for that event.
Mrs. Owens also reported that the annual collection for the donation for the Child Protective Services and Christmas Roundup would be due at the November meeting.
The November meeting will be hosted by Lynn Young, and Annette Stone will present the program.
